Coffey Break - Current Edition

As my furnace ran this morning, trying to shake off the chill of a 43 degree May morning, I am still trying to convince myself that spring is finally here. Yes folks, spring is here upper Midwest style!
Spring brings change to all of us. People start to emerge from their houses, joggers and runners and walkers are out along the parkways. The ball fields are full of hopeful Joe Mauer’s. We all wait for the beginning of summer and when it finally arrives we want to hold onto every moment because it took so long to get here in the first place.
This year, I want to hold onto the moments that bring me joy and change how I look at life. Looking at the world positively is something I’ve been practicing. Smelling fresh cut grass for the first time after a winter of snow, snow and more snow is exhilarating! (I’m not an allergy sufferer). Seeing a field of dandelions en masse, can be beautiful as long as they are in someone else’s yard and not mine. Seeing color again in the trees is a sure sign that life exists in those trees that stand tall and lifeless during the long winter. Ok, I know I have a way to go before I fully understand what it means to see the good and forget the bad. Right now I’m giving it my best shot and looking everything around me differently. Care to join me?
